Distribution XX Before the Spanish conquest were the Arawak languages spoken in discontinuous regions together, from the Caribbean to the Gran Chaco and the sources of the Xingu River and the mouth of the Amazon to the slopes of the Andes. Includes about 80 languages and dialects, which have been spoken in the past in Florida and the West Indies and now in the Guianas, Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil and to the foothills of the Peruvian Andes. Most of its speakers is part of small tribal groups. The family home is probably the eastern Amazon.. Dan Miller might disagree with that approach.
